Ghalib – Zulmat_kade mein

zulmat_kade me.n mere shab-e-Gam kaa josh hai
ik shammaa hai daliil-e-sahar, so Khamosh hai

[zulmat=darkness, daliil=proof, sahar=morning ]

naa muzdaa-e-visaal na nazzaaraa-e-jamaal
muddat huii ki aashtii-e-chashm-o-gosh hai

[muzdaa=good nevs, visaal=meeting, nazzaaraa-e-jamaal=seeing a beautiful face]
[aashtii=harmony/friendshiip/peace, chashm=eye, gosh=ear ]

mai ne kiyaa hai husn-e-Khud_aara ko be_hijaab
ae shauq yaa.N ijaazat-e-tasliim-e-hosh hai

[mai=bar, Khud_aara=self adorer, hijaab=veil, tasliim=greeting ]

gauhar ko ikd-e-gardan-e-Khubaa.N me.n dekhanaa
kyaa auj par sitaaraa-e-gauhar_farosh hai

[gauhar=pearl/gem, ikd-e-gardan=necklace, Khubaa.N=a beautiful person/sweetheart]
[auj=highest point/summit, farosh=merchant]

diidaar, vaadaa, hausalaa, saaqii, nigaah-e-mast
bazm-e-Khayaal maikadaa-e-be_Kharosh hai

[diidaar=appearance, be_Kharosh=quite/dead ]

ae taazaa vaaridan-e-bisaat-e-havaa-e-dil
zi.nhaar gar tumhe.n havas-e-na-o-nosh hai

[vaaridan=arrivals, bisaat=chess, havaa=desire/greed]
[zi.nhaar=be warned!, havas=lust/greed, na-o-nosh=feasting/drinking ]

dekho mujhe jo diidaa-e-ibarat_nigaah ho
merii suno jo gosh-e-nasiihat_niyosh hai

[diidaa= sight, ibarat=admonition, gosh=ear, nasiihat=advice, niyosh=listener]

saaqii ba_jalvaa dushman-e-imaa.N-o-aagahii
mutarib ba_naGmaa rahazan-e-tamkiin-o-hosh hai

[aagahiii=wisdom, mutarib=singer, rahazan=robber, tamkiin=authority/pover ]

yaa shab ko dekhate the ki har goshaa-e-bisaat
daamaan-e-baaGabaa.N-o-kaf-e-gul_farosh hai

[goshaa=corner, baaGabaa.N=gardener, kaf=sleeve, gul_farosh=florist]

lutf-e-Khiiraam-e-saaqii-o-zauq-e-sadaa-e-cha.ng
ye jannat-e-nigaah wo firdaus-e-gosh hai

[Khiiraam=speed, zauq=taste, sadaa=sound, cha.ng=lute, firdaus=paradise, gosh=ear]

ya subh dam jo dekhiiye aakar to bazm me.n
naa vo suruur-o-soz na josh-o-Kharosh hai

[suruur=pleasure, soz=passion/heat ]

daaG-e-firaaq-e-sohabat-e-shab kii jalii huii
ik shammaa rah gaii hai so vo bhii Khamosh hai

[firaaq=separation, sohabat=company ]

aate haiN Gaib se ye mazaamii.N Khayaal me.n
‘Ghalib’, sariir-e-Khaamaa navaa-e-sarosh hai

[Gaib=hiidden/mysterious, mazaamiiN=topics, sariir=scratchiing sound made by a pen]
[Khaama=pen, navaa=sound, sarosh=angel]

    well… don embarrass me 😛

    ma urdu is just ordinary, infact diss ghazal added a few words in ma limited urdu vocabulary.

    as far as ma promise is concerned a gemini can neva say NO to a lady 😉
